J. Austin Thomas

J. Austin Thomas received his B.A. in Business Administration from the College of Charleston and a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Born in Lexington, SC, Austin grew up in Pawleys Island and resides with his family in Murrells Inlet.

Before founding Grooms & Thomas, LLC, Austin served as law clerk to the Honorable Benjamin H. Culbertson, Fifteenth Judicial Circuit, in Georgetown and Conway, SC. After completing his judicial clerkship, Austin entered private practice with a small Pawleys Island firm, where he practiced in the area of civil litigation. Next, Austin became an Assistant Solicitor in the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, working as a designated DUI prosecutor. He later moved on to handle an array of felony offenses in both Horry and Georgetown Counties.

At Grooms and Thomas, LLC, Austin is now handling many aspects of general practice law, including Civil Litigation, Automobile Accidents, Business Litigation, and Criminal Defense.
